DAVID BRADFORD Call Out
OR How do you strike / if you have to strike / a loved one?
In Call Out, DAVID BRADFORD grapples with call-out culture as he turns a necessary call on one of his own, exploring the complications inherent in the nuance at play where the target is a friend, loved, known. Bradford’s long poem takes the shape of slow, fugal false starts set on 18 cards, and invites the reader to reorder, omit and emphasize its parts as they construct a different poem. In doing so, the cardholder is coerced into shifting the tone and ethics of the poem as they rebuild it—interrogating the biases of their Call Out as they take shape.
